Hitchcock Woods
Offers visitors the natural beauty and quiet solitude of a unique southern forest located
in the midst of an urban area, The City of Aiken, SC. Maintenance of the trails, jumps,
bridges, signs, map boxes, as well as protection and management of the natural
resources in the Woods, are all directed by the trustees who serve in the same spirit as
the founding trustees. The Hitchcock Woods are dependent upon the private support of
those who value and enjoy this unique resource in Aiken. If you would like to support

Smyrna Farm
Trails have flat sandy soil through old hardwoods, pines, and carolina bays. We have
water and electric to some sites, Shaded in pines, plenty of room, pullthroughs for
trailers available. Trailhead is on the edge of campground. (Total of 35 sites) Tie-up,
Water, primitive toilet

Directions: From down town Allendale, 301 south 1.5 miles. Turn left onto Bluff Road.
Go 6.5 miles. Turn left onto Gray Road, (see our sign). Go 1 tenth mile. Turn right onto
Dog Pen Road,(see our sign)(dirt road). Go 1 mile. Camp on right. Map it!

Bussey Point on Lake Thurmond
There are 12 + miles of wooded trails plus plenty of old roadbed areas --no vehicle traffic. There is also a
campground with horse amenities. Directions & a downloadable map of the trails can be found on the
CSRA Equestrian website. The CSRA Equestrian club constructed 4 new sites of the horse camp area &
does alot of the trail maintenance.
Directions:
I-20 east to exit 172 (Thomson exit Hwy 17) Turn LEFT off exit toward Lincolnton/ Washington. Go
approx 2 miles to HWY 43. Turn RIGHT onto hwy 43 just after church. Continue on Hwy 43 to HWY
220. Turn RIGHT onto 220. At first stop, turn LEFT--this will still be 220. Cross Hwy 47 at Cliatts
Crossing store. At next stop sign, turn RIGHT onto Double Branches Road. Continue unstraight,
pavement will end. The road will deadend into the day parking area for the trails.
